About Us

IISE Solutions, Inc., is a management consulting firm specializing in applications of proven continuous improvement and measurement tools including Six Sigma, lean, quality and industrial engineering principles.

We provide full service implementation and training assistance in all of these productivity improvement techniques. It is the philosophy of IISE Solutions, Inc., to train and assist clients to develop the necessary skills for implementation using those skills once IISE Solutions, Inc. has completed
our work.

We believe that the systems and procedures developed will be more effective when this training is provided for the people who have to use them. All training and assistance is specifically developed for each organization that we work with. There is no one system that fits every organization.

Our Team

Larry Aft

As team leader and founder, Larry Aft has served for 31 years on the faculty of Southern Polytechnic State University. While there he was Professor of Industrial Engineering Technology and Coordinator of the MSQA program. In the 1970’s he held a joint appointment with the Health Systems Research Center at Georgia Tech. He has consulted with over 170 organizations on continuous improvement, lean, six sigma, work standards and quality related activities. He has taught Six Sigma, work measurement, process analysis, statistical process control, problem solving tools, and data analysis courses, and he has helped countless organizations implement these methods.

His professional activities include Fellowships in the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers and the American Society for Quality. He has served as President of the Atlanta Chapter of the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers (IISE), chaired the 1980 IIE Conference and Convention, and chaired the 1994 IIE Work Measurement/Ergonomics Division Conference. He is currently past president of the Society for Work Science. He has also served four times as chair of the Greater Atlanta Section of ASQ. He is currently assisting organizations such as Cox Communications, U.S. Coast Guard, A.O. Smith, FedEx, CableOne, SunTrust, Golden Rule Insurance, Georgia Hospital Association, and Integrated Trading Systems implement six sigma.

Glenn Brooks

Glenn Brooks is retired from Southern Polytechnic State University (Professor Emeritus). His areas of specialization were work measurement, and facilities planning during his term as associate professor in the Industrial Engineering Technology department. Prior to his teaching experience he held a wide range of positions in industry over a thirty (30) year period. He began his industrial engineering career in an automobile assembly plant where he determined labor standards using work measurement for a major portion of a large automotive assembly plant. He was also responsible for all facilities planning for his area of the plant. Later while working with the same corporation he was selected as a member of a project team who successfully standardized engine component assembly operations. He served as chief industrial engineer for a large wire and cable company later in his career. During this time he was responsible for the improvement and maintenance of a complex wage incentive system. Mr. Brooks has over forty (40) years total experience in all phases of industrial engineering with particular interest in work measurement, standards establishment, and cost determination. Mr. Brooks has a BS degree from Georgia Tech, an MBA from The University of West Georgia, and a Master of Science in Statistical Quality Control from Southern Polytechnic State University. He is a registered professional engineer in the state of Georgia.

Haleh Byrne

She is currently the Product Lead for Industrial Engineering and continuous improvement at the Industrial Extension Service of North Carolina State University. In that position she leads a wide spectrum of industrial engineering services and projects. This includes work in the areas of productivity and quality improvements, costing, facilities layout, process and training documentation. Haleh has more than 20 years of experience in diverse industries as an industrial engineer. She worked at Flextronics in Youngsville as a product engineer. Her prior work history includes being an industrial engineer at the United States Postal Service in Los Angeles, an industrial/quality engineer at General Motors, an industrial engineer at Monsanto Electronic Materials in St. Louis, and an industrial/quality engineer at now closed Buehler Products in Cary. She holds a BS in Industrial Engineering from NC State University.

Adrienne Dickerson
Adrienne Dickerson has extensive experience in almost all aspects of business operations specializing in healthcare. She has worked for several years in contracting, revenue cycle, and facility wide process improvement for her clients. Dickerson also spent five years as director of operations improvement for VHA Georgia and was responsible for leading improvement efforts at more than 40 member hospitals. She works with general business, hospitals and other healthcare organizations to expand the use of traditional industrial and systems engineering techniques in the healthcare setting. Dickerson graduated with honors from the Georgia Institute of Technology with a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering and a master’s degree in health systems.
Brieanna M. Gowdy
She received her B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology (2004) and her dual Master of Industrial Engineering and Master of Business Administration from Auburn University (2011). She holds a Green Belt certification and serves as a member of various professional organizations including SWE, IISE, SHS, ACHE, and HIMSS. Brieanna is the founder and owner of Creative Concepts Consulting. Ms. Gowdy’s areas of expertise include business process and data analysis, supply chain management, project management, lean six sigma, and change management. Prior to the creation of Creative Concepts Consulting she performed roles such as process improvement and change management consultant, lean six sigma trainer and facilitator, data analysis and organizational performance specialist, industrial/management engineer, business analyst, and project manager. Ms. Gowdy has over ten years of experience spanning an array of areas including airline, aerospace, defense, retail, and healthcare industries. Brieanna has knowledge in areas ranging from process improvement, supply chain management, decision support, productivity, benchmarking, cost accounting, and finance. Her diverse industry experience, six sigma/lean training, analytical abilities, and process oriented mindset has allowed her to bring an innovative perspective and serve as a dynamic contributor.
David Goldsman, Ph.D.

David Goldsman, Ph.D., is a professor of industrial and systems engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Goldsman's research interests lie in computer simulation with an emphasis on statistical output analysis, applied probability and statistics, ranking and selection, time series analysis, and reliability and life testing. Application areas include health systems, airline safety and the automotive industry.

Roger Henry

Roger Henry brings a wealth of experience to the table. He has deep expertise in distribution, order filling, sales, and logistics as well as significant experience in banking and financial services. His strengths are centered on identifying, managing, and implementing operational changes. Prior to joining the consulting ranks he held senior leadership positions in financial services and manufacturing. He holds a bachelor degree from Southern Polytechnic State University and has done graduate work at Valdosta State University.

David Jones

David Jones spent his entire professional career with UPS. After starting as an hourly employee while in college, he proceeded up through the ranks holding a variety of Industrial Engineering positions. His last position prior to retirement was Manager of Corporate IE Measurement. He is experienced in applying MTM and MSD. David received his BS from the State University of New York.

Paul Odomirok

For the past 30 years, Paul Odomirok has been involved in several careers from academia to corporate leadership to consulting. In his "first career," he taught mathematics and computer science at all levels of learning, from pre-school to post-Ph.D. He was even involved in designing graduate level curriculums at the University of South Carolina as an adjunct professor. His second career began in 1985 with NCR. Beginning as a senior programmer analyst, he was promoted to manager - software development, product manager, manager – product management, corporate strategic planner for banking, director – retail systems product integration, director of quality, and corporate coach. During his stint corporate America, he experienced the NCR/AT&T merger, and was responsible, as a director of quality, for the cultural transformation and change leadership for the Retail Systems Division Organization in Duluth, Ga. He left NCR/AT&T in 1995 to pursue a consulting career, in the areas of lean, leadership, team development, strategy, structure, systems and organization performance. Over the past 10 years, he has worked with more than 30 companies in service, government, manufacturing, and healthcare on over 50 different performance improvement and lean related projects and programs. Some of his clients include Anixter, Motorola, GM, Harland, and Sodexho Services. Most recently he has provided lean assistance to Northrop Grumman, LXE, CNA Insurance, Fibervisions, Delaval, Perkins-Will, Care Logistics, Medivators, Med American, Sparton and the Georgia Hospital Association.

Steven Thompson

Steven worked for UPS as an Industrial Engineer for 32 years. In addition to assignments in operations, he conducted and managed time study groups and work measurement development groups. Steven has also served as automation systems testing manager for UPS, Corporate Ergonomics Manager and Process Redesign manager for the Corporate Service Call Centers. He has served as the program chair for the Institute of Industrial Engineers annual conference. Steven is also active in the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers as a continuing education trainer and has served as Senior Vice President for Continuing Education. He also served as founding President for the Society of Work Science. He is a recipient of IISE’s Work Measurement Division’s Outstanding Service Certificate. In 2002 he was the recipient of IISE’s M.M. Ayoub Award. The purpose of the M. M. Ayoub Award is to recognize those who have made outstanding contributions in the field of Ergonomics. The award is the foremost recognition for those involved in this field of Industrial Engineering. He is also a member of the ANSI Z94 Industrial Engineering Terminology Standard serving as chair of the work measurement chapter. Since his retirement from UPS he has worked on similar projects at organizations including Nokia, BellSouth, Golden Rule Insurance, Taylor Gifts, United Healthcare and MASCO Services.
